Meet the Muses - Heather

"Sea Breeze" (the meet and greet shot)
This is the first installment of (hopefully) a few audio bits introducing my muses and giving some stories behind the shots you see me do with them.

I have to extend some props to my good friend Brian Mackey for this.  Originally he and I were working on an audio project together, and for various reasons, it didn't really materialize.  I had bought some audio equipment to practice with and for about a year it sat unused.  A couple of weeks ago I got the idea to dig out the gear and to put together some behind the scenes audio clips to give people some insight as to some of the funny stories behind some of the shots.  Credit for getting me interested in this stuff definitely goes to Brian though.

By the way... yes I do talk fast (as my friend Jeff Marshall says;  I'm overclocked. :) ).  I got about four hours of sleep beforehand so I was really punchy (and more of a comedian than usual).  I also had a really bad cold when I recorded this, so I sound congested.  :D  Just an FYI as well; this is 100% unscripted.  It was also our first take too.  Overall I think it's not too bad for our first go, no?

Coming soon....

If "a picture is worth a thousand words", then wait until you hear what the unabridged versions of my work have to say.  :)

It's not you, it's me...

Model:  Lilred
I know that most people are probably not going to believe it, but I really haven't been shooting much over the past two years.  Back around late 2009 I pretty much had my fill of all the B.S. that was going on with this and in my life as well, so I took some time away from it all.

That doesn't mean that I didn't shoot at all though.  I did.  Heck, I even took the time to put together a Valentine's Day pinup group shoot in early 2011 (as you can see by the pic to the left).  Overall I went from shooting nearly 8 to 10 times a month down to about 1 shoot every three months (if that)

Aside from my muses Heather and Amanda (and one or two other models who were extremely persistent (yes I'm looking at you Danielle!  :D )), I wasn't actively looking to shoot with anyone.  In some cases I wasn't even returning emails.  Models were contacting me left and right but I wouldn't commit to shooting.  To really simplify it all; the fun had been completely taken out of all of this for me to the point where I seriously considered just giving it all up.  Saying I was burned out is the understatement of the year.  :)

It's only recently that I've started to actively book shoots (like, within the past month!).

If you happened to be one of those individuals, rest assured that it really wasn't you:  it most definitely was me.  It may have seemed as if I really wasn't interested, but the truth is that there was so much going on that it was impossible to juggle it all.  That's just for starters too.

It'd take me about a week to relay exactly why I wasn't even returning email messages in some cases (nevermind shooting), and although some of it I'm comfortable talking about, some of it is extremely personal so I won't be going into that aspect of it all.

Soooo.... with that said, if you were one of the many individuals who contacted me in the past two years and I didn't get back to you, please accept my apologies.

With that said, yes I am booking shoots now but there is a slight catch.

One of the reasons why I almost completely stopped two years ago is that I got overloaded big-time.  Unfortunately because this doesn't pay the bills, it means I have to work another (full time) job that does.  Like it or not that job does come first.  That means I'm pretty much limited to weekends, and because I need to have time not only to myself but to edit the work too, the most I can commit to shooting is 2-3 times a month (if I can).

Because my time is very limited I'm also being E-X-T-R-E-M-E-L-Y picky about who I will work with (more than I already am).  I'm going to save the details of this for another blog update, but to sum it up; because I have so little free time I can't afford to waste it on people who aren't serious.

Yes I know it sucks, but that's life.  I hate it more than anyone else really, but that's the reality of it all.

Rest assured that if I already told you that I want to work with you, that means I really do want to work with you.  Because of the above though that means it may take a little longer than even I'd like, but it *WILL* happen.  :)

(About the photo above:  Although the pic above was shot back in late Jan/early Feb 2011, I only got around to editing it this week (almost a year later!).  It was taken at my "Atomic MA Pinup Valentine's Day Group Shoot" that I had held at Blue Line Studios in Lincoln, RI.).

Two from the weekend

I shot with the my muse Laura-B (on the left) and Sadie (on the right) over the weekend.  Besides having an absolute blast working with both of them, we came away with some amazing work.
